Welcome to CLE

Grit meets sophistication in a town where you can browse modern art inside a turn-of-the-century transformer station, hear the orchestra perform live inside the local hot dog joint and chow down on pierogi stuffed with beef cheek.

World-class experiences w/o the world-class ego

Cleveland isn’t a place for people who follow the herd, it is for those who know how to have a good time. It’s what happens when you don’t take yourself too seriously.

Getting Around

From trains and buses to free downtown trolleys, the Regional Transit Authority (RTA) is the best way to travel Cleveland. The Red Line Rapid Train takes you directly from the airport to downtown Cleveland for only $2.25 and in under 30 minutes. Bicycle and car share options abound downtown as well.

Downtown is centered on Public Square, south of the convention center, and includes several districts that are fun to explore. Downtown Cleveland is home to the traditional Financial District and Civic Center, the Arcade—America’s first indoor shopping mall, and the Cleveland Theater District. Venture to Playhouse Square and you will see the world’s largest outdoor chandelier! The Flats are southwest of the convention center and boast some excellent restaurants and views of the switch bridges on the Cuyahoga River. East 4th Street houses a few of our city’s most famous restaurants and chefs, but that is just the beginning of all the neighborhoods to explore.

We’ll see you at The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Museum for the ACRL 2019 All Conference Reception, but once that’s crossed off your to-do list, what’s next? Plenty. Give some of these other Cleveland attractions a try.

Restaurants and Bars

Cleveland doesn’t have to brag about their restaurants. The food networks and James Beard Foundation have been doing it for years. Explore everything from fine dining and gastro-pubs to seriously delicious grilled cheeses and ice creams. Make sure to pack your appetite.

Music Scene

The city with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum better have a nightlife that rocks. Good thing they deliver on that promise. Don’t be surprised if your nightlife turns into early mornings.

Social Justice

Cleveland is a dynamic urban hub with a vibrant network of social justice organizations committed to addressing the root causes of social issues. Take time to explore them and/or volunteer while you are here. This is a city on the move that connects passion and participation with the possibility for change.
